Helen Mirren To Be Honored With Globes' Lifetime Achievement Award.
The acclaimed British actress Helen Mirren, previously holder of an Academy Award, multiple Bafta awards, Globes trophies, five Emmys, and a Tony, is set to earn an additional prestigious accolade to her trophy case: the Cecil B DeMille Globes' career honor.
Ceremony Details
The actress, octogenarian, formerly made a dame in 2003 and named a BAFTA fellow back in 2014, will receive this honor in a ceremony on the eighth of January, shortly before the Golden Globes main event take place, during a program described by the organization as Golden Eve.
Additionally featuring the bestowal of the Globes’ Carol Burnett prize for television achievement, the honoree for which has yet to be announced. The prior year’s honorees were Viola Davis along with Ted Danson.
“Dame Helen represents an unstoppable talent, with a career is nothing short of exceptional,” remarked the organization’s president, president of the Golden Globes. “Her transcendent performances and dedication to acting persistently influence countless performers and audiences alike. It’s a tremendous privilege to award her the DeMille prize.”
Career Highlights
Mirren gained prominence back in the 70s via important performances in stage productions in the West End of London and through the Royal Shakespeare Company and in films including O Lucky Man!, Caligula & The Long Good Friday.
In the 1990s, her starring role in the investigative show Prime Suspect expanded her audience even more. Other key films feature Excalibur, The Madness of King George, The Cook, the Thief, His Wife and Her Lover, Gosford Park & Calendar Girls.
She received an Oscar for her performance as Elizabeth II in the cinematic work The Queen, a role she revisited during 2013 within The Audience, Peter Morgan’s play regarding the encounters involving the monarch and prime minister Thatcher, a role for which she earned a Tony during 2015.
Recent and Upcoming Projects
- Subsequent cinematic works comprise Hitchcock, The Last Station, Woman in Gold, The Debt, Golda and Barbie, which she narrated.
