Iran Claims Attack on American Facility in Bahrain, During Regional Military Operations.
Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Bahrain, as the country executed operations throughout the Middle East in response for a large-scale and continuing offensive against it by the United States and Israeli forces.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an zone near the headquarters of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The full scale of any damage is not yet known and the US has yet to issue a statement.
Regional Interceptions
In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - all home to US military bases - reported they have engaged and destroyed incoming projectiles in their airspace.
In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence said it had intercepted a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the Middle East.
Operation "Truthful Promise 4"
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard said in a statement it was attacking US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the offensive on the Islamic Republic launched by the US and Israel on Saturday.
That preceding assault - launched at around 06:15 GMT - has so far targeted sites associated with the the regime, with President Trump encouraging the Iranian people to rise up against the regime.
Wider Impacts
In Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The Ministry of Defence of the UAE said in a statement that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses responded to the projectiles with high efficiency and successfully intercepted a several projectiles," it added.
Officials reported wreckage landed in a populated district in the capital, causing some property damage and killing a civilian.
The United States Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
