Outrage as Beloved South African DJ Killed in the City of Johannesburg.
A popular South African radio and club DJ has been murdered in the metropolis of Johannesburg, causing national outrage across a country grappling with persistent crime.
Warrick Stock, popularly known as DJ Warras, was attacked in the downtown area on the afternoon of Tuesday.
Officials stated the forty-year-old media personality was accosted by three suspects, one of whom opened fire on him before escaping on foot.
The purpose of the attack is unknown and no arrests are in custody, police said.
The Fatal Incident
Law enforcement indicated that Stock was ambushed as he was leaving a premises close to the Carlton Centre.
He had been present for hours at the building managing the installation of safety equipment, which had been illegally inhabited by unidentified individuals, as per local media.
"It is alleged the deceased was approached by three unknown suspects after he parked his car, and they shot at him before escaping on foot," an official report said.
Surveillance tape reportedly captured a suspect with dreadlocked hair and dressed in what appeared to be a security uniform firing shots on Stock before making his escape.
The DJ attempted to flee after he was hit but succumbed to his injuries on the opposite side of the road.
Police added that Stock had an unused firearm and no items were stolen during the incident.
Important clues, like cartridges, were recovered from the scene.

"Evidence suggests they covered significant ground after the attack, and investigators have been following their trail to find their whereabouts," stated a police chief.

"I am devastated. I don't have words," were her words.
"We know he was a representative for countless citizens. He was a fearless commentator about issues not many people were ready to speak about. This is a tremendous loss."
