An individual of Australian nationality who vaulted past a barrier and touched actress Ariana Grande has been sent away and barred from Singapore.

Johnson Wen, aged 26, was given a sentence to over a week in jail for being a public nuisance and has now been "barred from re-entering Singapore," Singaporean immigration authorities stated to news outlets.

The man shoved through camera crews and approached aggressively the actress and singer, who was present at the regional launch for the film on 13 November. Co-star Cynthia Erivo pulled him back from Grande.

He has a background of causing disturbances at events and celebrity events, including leaping onto the platform at a Katy Perry performance in Sydney in the past June.

The incident provoked strong reactions in Singapore, with many claiming he of causing further distress to the star.

The celebrity has spoken of experiencing post-traumatic stress disorder after a suicide bomb attack at her performance in the English city in spring of 2017 took the lives of 22 individuals and affected hundreds.

In the legal process, the judge was informed he had tried to gain access on the red carpet event multiple times, according to local news sources.

He then made a another effort to breach security. Protection personnel stopped him and pinned him down.

He then uploaded videos thanking Grande for letting him on the carpet and said he was "free."

Authorities detained him the following day and accused him with public nuisance, to which the man admitted guilt.

The Presiding Judge Christopher Goh was cited by a news outlet as stating that he was looking for publicity, commenting that he was mistaken to think he would not face any penalties.

The actress has not commented on the case.

Erivo mentioned the incident to the press, remarking that she "only aimed to make sure my co-star was safe."

"I'm sure he didn't mean us harm, but you never know with those things, and I aimed to make sure that she was OK. That was my immediate response," she commented.
